Calling all picnic hampers – both antique and backpack– you are cordially invited to the National Historic Landmark Village of Riverside, Illinois for the annual Picnic by the Pond. Enjoy the outdoors and scenic views of the Des Plaines River and Swan Pond, with your own picnic lunch, much like villagers would have enjoyed in 1869 when Frederick Law Olmsted designed this suburb of Chicago.
Enjoy violin music and nature while picnicking with your community. Residents are encouraged to bring reusable items and take any trash home with them. A special tour of Riverside’s Arboretum will highlight the historic events tied to each tree’s age. (Rain Date is September 25, 2022).
